Kwic Healthcare ensures efficient use of donor blood

A promising ICT system, designed by Kwic Healthcare B.V., was granted with 60.000 Euros by the province of Groningen. This amount gives the opportunity to further develop the specific  ICT system and has the goal to make the re-use of the donor blood more efficient possible. While the returned donor blood is currently discarded due to lack of quality, Kwic  located in the R&D Hotel on the Healthy Ageing Campus in Groningen, strives to re-use almost 80-85% of donor blood.

Life Sciences & Health sector honors two SPRINT initiatives: SAFE and TIPS

As a joint initiative with Roessingh Research & Development in Enschede, SPRINT  granted both projects with an amount of 625.000 Euros for the period of three years.

36. UMCG Sports Days: “Go Campus”

More then 750 sportive UMCG employees are participating in this years UMCG’s Sports Days. On Thursday 18^th and Friday 19^th of April the self-announced teams can score a goal in a soccer match or show their talent around the volleyball net at the Martiniplaza in Groningen.

New Healthy Ageing Honorary Professor appointed

The Healthy Ageing Campus Nederlands congratulates Senior Vice President of DSM Manfred Eggersdorfer to the Healthy Ageing honorary professor title. Appointed by the UMCG, Eggersdorfer will focus on research regarding (micro)nutrients, but aims also for more awareness of healthy ageing and the role of health at all life stages. The Honorary Professor will hold the position for the duration of five years.

We were very pleased that the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, visited PolyVation on January 30th. The Prime Minister was keen to learn how PolyVation successfully spun out of the university and how it grew towards a globally renowed company specialized in biomedical polymers development and manufacturing.

Boeken, inchecken, ondernemen & onderzoeken; de Healthy Ageing Campus Netherlands gaat het hotelconcept toepassen op bedrijfsruimten. Dit gebeurt in het R&D Hotel dat op donderdag 29 november geopend wordt.

ERIBA goes Russia

Peter Lansdorp, scientific director of ERIBA, will lead an international consortium that will set up a new institute for research into stem cells in Russia. The institute is based in the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SkTech) close to Moscow.

Bruker announces collaboration with UMCG

Prestigious ERC Grant for Scientific Director ERIBA

The European Research Council has awarded an Advanced Investigator Grant to Prof. Peter Lansdorp. This prestigious grant is intended for top researchers doing excellent and innovative research. Lansdorp is professor of the biology of ageing and Scientific Director of the new European Research Institute on the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA) of the University Medical Center Groningen and the University of Groningen.
