TinyEYE is a multi-lingual, award-winning web-based software program through which children, adults and the elderly can receive speech therapy online.
Receiving speech therapy is now independent of time and place. The client is in the comfort of his/her own home, office or school, and will meet the Speech online. No traveling, no traffic, no weather, no delays.
Working as a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), Elisa Gielen noticed that the waiting lists at the SLP’s practices kept on growing continuously. Furthermore she felt that among the patients there was a lack of adherence to therapy and exercising independently at home. Together with engineer Paul Jenkins, she looked for a solution which, in the end, they found in Canada. In 2009 Paul and Elisa met Marnee Brick and her brother Greg Stutton, the founders of TinyEYE Canada. In Canada, providing Speech and Language Therapy services through telepractice is very common and the approach of TinyEYE Canada is very succesful. Paul and Elisa were impressed by the software and decided: ‘Europe needs to get to know this as well’.
By now TinyEYE Europe has adjusted the Canadian software to the European market, in co-operation with a team of experts, consisting of, among others, linguists from the University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen).
Beides this, there are SLPs who are working for TinyEYE Europe. They provide speech and language therapy through TinyEYE in the Online SLP practice (“Online Logopedie Praktijk”). During their work they contstantly test the functionallity of the software. From their point of view as a professional they advise the developers to achieve a continuous improvement of the software. Due to this, TinyEYE keeps on improving. The professionals, working for TinyEYE, are always looking for a way to make the software as up to date as possible, according to the latest developments in the field of Speech and Language Therapy. With their hands-on experience and knowledge about the software, the SLPs of the Online SLP practice provide trainings and offer their support to TinyEYE SLPs all over Europe.
