Campus researcher Cor Calkhoven (ERIBA) and his research group genetically altered a laboratory animal mouse in a way that he burns more fat than ordinary mice. The result is that the mouse stores less fat, has a healthier liver, less risk of diseases such as diabetes and, moreover, exhibits more physical activity. The results of the study were recently published in the journal EMBO Reports.
