The little giraffe with the broken leg, the elephant has a broken nose and the mouse is very ill. The UMCG was transformed in a hospital for aminals this week. Only there were no real animals, but stuffed animals and their little owners.

Doctors in white coats, huge injections or plaster? For children this is all very frightening. Often this is because children do not know what to expect. Therefore IFMSA-Groningen yearly organizes the Teddy Bear Hospital. During this project, children can playfully introduced to the hospital by their 'sick' cuddle better, so the fear of doctors and take sick-are somewhat clear.

The Teddy Bear Hospital is a role-playing game, in which nearly 700 children from different schools bring their own teddy bear or other stuffed into a simulated hospital. This is one of the patios of the University Medical Center Groningen converted into a small hospital waiting rooms, speaking and treatment rooms. Medical students from the University Medical Center Groningen play the role of doctor and cuddles patient. The children accompany their hug during the visit to the doctor and do so themselves undergo any examination or treatment. However, they are asked by the doctors to assist in the investigation, treatment, or even an "operation".
