Groningen is making a major step in the development of new drugs. Syncom director, Ton Vries, one of the driving forces, sees great potential for this industry and the creation of new jobs within the upcoming years.

Companies such as Angita BV and Integrex have been doing research for new medications for a long time. While many research companies focused on the early stages of drug dicrovery, Groningen aims for a focus on long term research including the testing phase. The last and final phase regarding production and sales will be left to larger companies however.

The new company is set up by Syncom, ABL, LSP, the UMCG and the RUG as well as Brainsonline, who are partly currently located in the R&D Hotel on the Healthy Ageing Campus.
