The UMCG research institute, ERIBA, opens a new facility for altering DNA on Thursday, April 28th. With the latest technology the research is focussing on replacing  damaged cells or altered DNA, a major cause of many diseases, from cells with undamaged DNA.

"With the knowledge we want to support research in creating stem cells from normal cells (in technical terms iPSC) and changing the DNA of cells (CRISPR / cas9)" said research biologist Daniel Warmerdam." We combine knowledge, so the research more efficient and we will learn more about the opportunities offered by these technologies."
