Nearly 4 million grant for "protein factory " of UMCG

A study of protein production of the University Medical Center Groningen gets a boost from the European Union. This research is receiving an EU grant of 3.95 million euros. In the research project 'Protein Factory' researchers try to make proteins with certain bacteria. According to the UMCG is there mainly for biomedical and industrial applications a great need for these proteins.' Protein Factory' is an international project where six universities and five companies cooperate. The study lasts four years. The researchers try to discover how bacteria use their nutrients and they make energy available. With this knowledge , the researchers hope to remove barriers in protein production.
