Northern Netherlands: A role model for Active and Healthy Ageing

Today Active and Healthy Ageing is ranked high on the agenda in Brussels. The European commission acknowledged the forward-looking decision of the Northern Netherlands to focus on Healthy Ageing and the related issues in regard to the ambition to let citizens to grow old in a active and healthy way. 

Besides Scotland and Australia, the Northern Netherlands are a top location, when trying to find solutions in the area of life sciences. Particularly the unique collaboration between a large number of different parties, such as government, companies and knowledge-based institutions stands out. Two presented projects in the area of Healthy Ageing, namely GLAM (Active Living Model) and EurSafety Health-net received the highed score with three starsscored three stars.

This Dutch region has shown unique effort and generated unique results along the way. John Jorritsma, commissioner of the kind in Friesland and as of today chairman of the Northern Netherlands Provinces Alliacne (SNN) attended the Star Ceremony in Brussels initiated by three European commissioners.
